Can you say, STANLEY CUP? Pittsburgh Proud!

For the uninformed (and we pity you), Pittsburgers are holding their collective breath waiting for an incredibly important game tomorrow night.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are OUR CHAMPIONS

Two sports rule in Pittsburgh, football and hockey. We love our sports teams because they validate us and make us feel really good about ourselves. So many people have the wrong idea about Pittsburgh.

We’re still known in many parts as ‘The Smokey City’–we haven’t been that way for 30 years! Some places considered us gentrified. While it is true that Pennsylvania has the 2nd largest elderly population next to Florida, we also have some of the most spectacular high technology facilities and are attracting younger folks to our city everyday.

We have a magnificent symphony orchestra, known throughout the world; we have a spectacular ballet company; we have an incredible opera company; we have theater galore; we have a school system that is urban and yet produces some extraordinarily fine students (Gene Kelly, Frank Gorshin, August Wilson, just to name a few of our past city high school graduates).

We have more green space and city parks than most cities in the United States…all FREE. We have water sports on our three rivers; we have skiing nearby; we have young leaders runnng our city and county who have an eye to the future.

And we have our PENGUINS. Crosby, Malkin, Rutuu, Stahl, Sykora, Hossa, Gonchar, Skydari, Letang, Roberts, Dupois, Laraque, Gill, Talbot and so many more. Tomorrow WE WILL, WE WILL ROCK YOU! And we will be ready to take on the challenge to win the Stanley Cup…Lord Stanley, you are coming home!
